To help minimize the spread of COVID-19 ALL YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit locations are closed.

Following the direction of state government and our YMCA leadership, Girls on the Run and STRIDE of Greater Detroit will be suspending operation until further notice. As such, we will be unavailable by email or phone until such time that operation begins again. You will receive At Home activities by email as an optional way to keep moving. We encourage you to see our Facebook page and the YMCA’s website for the most up to date information.

Please see the statement below from the YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit.

Your health is our priority. As such all of our YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit locations will be closed until further notice effective at 3:00pm Monday 16, 2020. Our YMCA is following the Executive Order 2020-9 issued by Governor Whitmer Monday March 16, 2020 to help minimize the spread of COVID-19. Everything the YMCA does is about making every day better.

We recognize that creating opportunities to connect people is core to the YMCA fulfilling our mission. During this time when social distancing is essential for our collective well being we are required to reimagine how to best serve you, our valued members. Difficult decisions rooted in our YMCA core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility and Inclusion are being made on a daily basis as we are guided by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, Center for Disease Control and our parent organization, the YMCA of USA.

As stated previously, today that means making one of our most difficult decisions to date, closing all our YMCAs as we put your health and that of all our neighbors first.

Please note we have not been notified that any person using our facilities has been diagnosed with COVID-19. We assure you that if we learn of any diagnosed persons at any of our YMCAs we will share the information while maintaining the person(s) confidentiality.

We continue to make strategic regional operating decisions to ensure the YMCA is here to serve Metro Detroiters for another 168 years once we overcome this unprecedented health challenge.

Over the next few days and weeks we will:

  • Deliver packed meals for children throughout the region – please check our website for daily updates
  • Develop virtual YMCA programming to share with members – more information will be shared as it becomes available

We will do our best to keep you informed. Our website will be our primary communications touch point: www.ymcadetroit.org. Decisions are being made daily as this situation evolves. You can email questions and concerns to community@ymcadetroit.org. You can also call our Association Services information line at 313-223-2633.

Thank you for your patience regarding response times. Remember to practice: Cover.Clean.Contain

  • Cover sneezing and coughing
  • Clean Washing hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol
  • Contain stay home
