Girls on the Run is so much fun!

“Is Girls on the Run a good fit for my daughter?”

Parents and caregivers may hear about our program from co-workers, teachers, or other parents, but many worry if it is the right program for their daughter; worried that their daughters are not “runners” or competitive enough to participate.  While running is woven into our program to inspire an appreciation of fitness and healthy living habits, it is just one portion of our program. GOTR is designed to allow every girl to recognize her inner strength, and inspires girls to define their lives on their own terms. Throughout the season, the girls make new friends, build confidence and celebrate all that makes them unique, in addition to preparing physically to complete a 5k event.  Completing the 5K is not about setting a record time, in fact our 5K is not a timed event.   Completing a non-competitive 5k gives the girls a tangible sense of achievement as well as a framework for setting and achieving goals.  The result—making the seemingly impossible, possible–a result that is a “good fit” for all girls.
